When I was about 14 years old I fired my first flintlock, a 40 cal poor boy built by Dale Friesen. Since then I have been hooked and I shoot them regularly at our local club. I have also built a few. Perhaps my favourite is a kit from Jim Kibler called the Southern Mountain Rifle (SMR). It is a very long but very light and accurate rifle. The kit was exceptional quality and a joy to build.
