Marlin 22

1897 Marlin 22 LR

I purchased a rough 97 marlin a few years ago but Christmas break 2022 I brought it back to life. What a lovely little rifle to carry and shoot.

I made an ejector, bought a firing pin, made a few bolts, relined the barrel, made a set of stocks, blued, casehardened, and restored an old tang sight.

This rifle isn’t built for high velocity ammo so I am using standard velocity and it shoots great. I am looking forward to using it for Gophers at my parents farm this spring

Marlin 38-55

1893 Marlin

This came to me as a box of parts with an ugly green tinge, barrel like a sewer pipe and no wood. Now it is an accurate fun shooting rifle

Marlin 25-20

1889 Marlin

I picked this rifle online a few years ago. It was in 32-20 but the barrel was shot. The stock is very busted and needed a few pieces made. I don’t seem to be able to get 32-20 liners but Brownells sells 25-20 liners so I relined it to 25-20. I cleaned up the barrel, made the bits that were broken or missing and glued the stock together. I also fitted a tang sight but it was missing the eye cup and slide so I used an MVA eye cup and created a slide. The block also had a missing piece so I welded on a piece and fitted it to the action.

The bullet mold I have is a RCBS 85 gr cowboy mold but somepeople complain it is too big for the slow twist barrels and this liner is 1:14 twist so I cut the mold down and now it pours 63 gr bullets. I am looking forward to trying it out this weekend.

Next step will be to make new stocks, blue and caseharden it.
